Culture

At HaysMac, we’re proud of who we are. Maybe it’s our partners, who go all in. Or the innovative layout of our London HQ. It could just be the people. Either way, we want you to feel it too.

Discover excellence in a happy, dynamic atmosphere where people genuinely enjoy coming to work.

The energy and enthusiasm are contagious. We make time for each other, at work and beyond.

This feel-good factor results in personable relationships that last – with both colleagues and clients.

As the firm has grown, we’ve retained the unique personality of HaysMac. You could describe us as human and genuine. We do enjoy ourselves here, it’s true, but we have high standards. Fun without excellence doesn’t produce the outcomes our clients expect.

We were excited to have been named one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2024 in the Big Organisation category! The prestigious The Times and WorkL list celebrates companies that prioritise employee wellbeing, inclusivity and overall workplace satisfaction. We’re really proud of this incredible achievement and recognition of the positive working environment and culture we’ve created within our firm.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I)

We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone feels supported, valued and free to be their authentic selves. Our goal is to continue building on our diverse and inclusive environment that not only celebrates individuality, but also embodies the core values of HaysMac.

Following our employee engagement survey, we acknowledged the feedback shared by HaysMac staff which helped in identifying our key strengths, and culture aspirations. To achieve our vision, we have recently partnered with a consultancy firm to perform a DEI audit, and work with us to achieve our commitment.

Our DEI committee organise a range of internal events including events for cultural celebrations, educational sessions and workshops encouraging staff to connect, learn and share experiences.

Environmental and Sustainability

As a firm, we are committed to environmental and sustainability initiatives. We recognise the importance of protecting our planet for current and future generations.

We demonstrate this commitment through several initiatives, such as reducing our carbon footprint by implementing energy-efficient practices and technologies throughout our operations. We aim to minimise waste generation by promoting recycling, reusing materials, reducing single use plastics and reducing the amount of paper used. We continuously measure and improve our environmental performance through data supported measures.

Our specific initiatives can be broken down into four main pillars: Carbon, Waste, Water, and Energy, and we detail our current activity and future objectives in our statement, which you can view by clicking the link below. Through our achievements to date and our future plans, we are committed to our environmental sustainability goals. We will continue to review and challenge what our firm can do to minimise impact and make positive contributions to the environment, and a more sustainable future.

Why HaysMac?

Our open-plan workspace allows people to learn from one another, no matter the seniority

It certainly helps that we’re all based on the same floor of our London HQ. There are no closed-door offices, no hierarchy, no endless layers of bureaucracy to get stuff done. By encouraging social interaction and chance connections among different teams, we create an environment for knowledge sharing and innovation.

Our graduates provide new perspectives and help us look to tomorrow. As the future of our firm, it’s vital that our graduates receive everything they need in their early careers, so they can challenge and stretch themselves, and ultimately provide the best experience to our clients.

HaysMac partners are invested. They bring an enthusiasm for life that’s bigger than just the day job

Over half of our partners were trained at HaysMac and they are all fiercely committed to maintaining our independence, which we see as a superpower in today’s accountancy industry. Our staff retention rate is 82%. Future leaders stick around because of the supportive culture, the opportunity to carve out a new niche, and our collaborative approach.

As we previously mentioned, HaysMac has been recognised as one of the best places to work in the UK. This recognition comes from The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2024, which awarded excellent scores for employee wellbeing, inclusivity, and workplace satisfaction. Notably, only 92 ‘Big Organisations’ in the UK earned this distinction.

Our Values

Our values – Integrity, Collaboration, Empowerment and Dynamism – are the cornerstones of the HaysMac ethos. They each uphold the relationships we have with clients and describe how we get along as colleagues.
  • Integrity

Integrity is about building trust and doing the right thing, always.

  • Collaboration

Collaboration means open communication, sharing generously and acting in an inclusive manner.
