Looking for a placement year as part of your university degree? Join HaysMac and gain valuable experience while working alongside experienced professionals in a leading accountancy firm.
Our placement opportunities are available in Audit and Tax, giving you exposure to real client work from the outset. You'll develop technical knowledge, build professional skills and gain insight into a wide variety of industries and organisations.
It's a chance to explore your future career while making a meaningful contribution from the outset. For students interested in getting ahead, there may also be opportunities to begin taking ACA exams during your placement year.
School leavers
University isn't the only route into a successful accountancy career.
Our school leaver apprenticeship programme is designed for ambitious individuals who are ready to start their professional journey straight after completing their A Levels. We're looking for motivated problem-solvers with strong academic achievements and a collaborative mindset.
You'll receive exceptional training, professional qualifications, practical experience and a competitive salary from day one — all while avoiding university tuition fees.
Working on real client projects alongside experienced professionals, you'll gain exposure to a range of sectors while building the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in accountancy.
Our Audit and Tax apprenticeship programmes run for 4.5 years and combine work-based learning with professional study, working towards the ACA qualification with the ICAEW and becoming a Chartered Accountant.

Graduates
At HaysMac, we welcome graduates from all degree disciplines. Bringing fresh perspectives, new ideas and energy, you'll play an important role in helping us support clients in a constantly evolving landscape.
From day one, you'll gain hands-on experience working with clients across a wide range of sectors, supported by industry-leading training, dedicated mentors and a collaborative team environment. You'll also benefit from a competitive salary, attractive benefits package and clear opportunities for progression.
As your experience grows, so will your professional qualifications. Over 3.5 years, you'll study towards the ACA qualification with the ICAEW and work towards becoming a Chartered Accountant.

Graduates - Cape Town
Established in 2024, our Cape Town office is an extension of our London practice, providing support to our UK clients while offering exciting career opportunities in South Africa.
As a graduate in Cape Town, you'll receive the same high-quality learning and development experience as our London graduates. You'll work towards the ACA qualification over 3.5 years while gaining practical experience and exposure to international clients.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates seeking an internationally recognised qualification and the chance to build a global career with a growing firm.

Our Cape Town graduate programme is open to individuals who are eligible to work and reside in South Africa. This includes South African nationals, as well as non-nationals with the appropriate visa or residency status.

Work across two connected offices
Our London and Cape Town teams work closely together, creating opportunities to collaborate, learn from colleagues across locations and gain experience in another office through our Intrafirm Secondment Programme.
Our London office is home to the majority of our people and has been at the heart of HaysMac’s growth for decades. It’s a collaborative environment where colleagues build relationships, share ideas and develop their careers.
As we’ve continued to grow, we’ve invested in spaces that bring people together. From our newly opened Ground Floor Town Hall space, which hosts firmwide events, to our rooftop terrace, we’ve created an environment where colleagues can connect, collaborate and feel part of a wider community.
